Dr Jonathan Sandoval-Castillo

I am attracted by the biogeography, phylogeny and evolution of marine organism, especially by the speciation process in elasmobranches (sharks and rays). I am interested in the integration of molecular and ecological approaches to elucidate evolutionary histories in the ocean. I have been involved in elasmobranch research since 2000. In 2011 I completed my PhD at Macquarie University under the supervision of Prof Luciano Beheregaray, studying evolutionary aspects of elasmobranch speciation in the Gulf of California. Currently I am part of MELFU at Flinders University. Using genomics and transcriptomics we are trying to elucidate patterns of adaptation on aquatic populations.
