Honours supervisors: A/Prof L Möller and Prof L Beheregaray

Originally from Adelaide, South Australia, I moved to Queensland and completed my Bachelor’s degree in marine science (with a major in ecology) at Griffith University. During my undergraduate studies, I volunteered with humpback whales in southeast Queensland. Observing and supporting sampling, tagging, and behavioural monitoring was a defining moment that made me realise I wanted to study marine megafauna specifically. Returning home to Adelaide, I am now undertaking my Honours at Flinders University. Under the supervision of A/Prof Luciana Möller and Prof Luciano Beheregaray, my project examines the presence of Chlamydia spp. in Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops aduncus) and common dolphins (Delphinus delphis) in the Gulf of St Vincent. I aim to use PCR-based methods to identify and phylogenetically characterise Chlamydia in tissue samples derived from stranded South Australian dolphins.
